Get Employers & Recruiters Connecting with You
Market yourself correctly and dozens of employers will see your resume today, tomorrow, and for weeks and weeks.
Smart marketing tactics will keep working for you months after you implement them. There are a half dozen of these methods that I'll go over.
In this first article I will show you a simple and well known method that 95% of job seekers do not implement widely enough, even though they can do it for free. When implemented correctly, a job seeker can expect to see the following benefits:
- Employers & recruiters end up searching for and calling YOU
- Your resume is assessable by 5.0 million employers & recruiters
- You will be considered for job that are never advertised
- You break in to the so-called hidden job market
- You end up expanding your 'network' exponentially
- Keeps working months after you implement it
Beat the Trend
A little bit of background will help set up why this and the other methods we talk about are so much more effective than simply searching for and apply to one job at a time.
Today, when you search for and apply to one-job-at-a-time, you play a numbers game that is stacked against you in the following ways:
- only ten percent of all jobs are filled through classified advertising
- each advertised job fetches over 600 resumes
- when most people search for jobs online, they see a mere 1% of all open jobs
Why Hiring Managers Keep Open Jobs Off the Market
The same trend that makes the Internet so good at putting a candidate's resumes in front of hiring managers is the same reason, hiring managers don't advertise as many job openings. The shear number of resume responses makes finding candidates both time consuming and expensive.
Before advertising an open position, a growing trend among hiring managers, HR managers, and recruiters is to first use resume databanks to find and contact candidates directly. If a suitable number of candidates are not found, then the open position is advertised.
How-to Get to Open Jobs First
A candidate found in a resume databank automatically get two or three steps closer to actual job openings and hiring mangers in the following ways:
- Does not compete against the 600 other candidates when a position is advertised
- Candidates are pre-qualified, and pre-screened before being contacted
- Candidates begins the job search process at the interview stage
- Will compete against an average of 6 other candidates, not 600
- Has the negotiating advantage of being contacted first
Where's the Other Resume?
The other method, the one where a resume is sent to an advertised job opening is fighting against 600 to 800 other resumes to gain the attention of the hiring manger, and is probably stuck in a review process, while the hiring manger is thinking of better more efficient ways to find qualified candidates.
There are many good, well respected resume databanks that you have probably never heard of. Marketing yourself, like marketing anything else, is a numbers game. The more resume databanks you post to, the more times your resume will be found.
